POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager will assume overall responsibility and provide project direction. Leadership and guidance to the Telephone Replacement Project Team for all project initiatives related to the implementation of new IP Telephony system within NYULMC. This includes providing general project oversight and assuring coordination, cooperation, and communication among MYULMC and its vendor partner(s).

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1- Provide complete project management services for successful and timely implementation of the new telecommunications system by allocating, managing, and optimizing all project resources.

2- Effectively marshal both NYULMC and vendor project resources to ensure successful completion of project goals and objectives.

3- Identify resources necessary to accomplish project tasks and appropriate work effort required from those resources. Direct all personal resources necessary for the project. Monitor the progress of tasks in the work plan across all streams and identify situations requiring change control.

4- Hold project teams accountable for the effective performance of their assignments and achievement of the project goals and objectives.

5- Develop and maintain overall MS project plan with interdependent sub-projects and all associated tasks/subtasks and maintain the project plan on an ongoing basis.

6- Monitor project variables (cost, effort, scope) against the project plan and project schedule.

7- Identify any necessary corrective actions to address project issues or risks.

8- Conduct weekly project status meetings with primary vendor, all involved subcontractors, NYULMC. Facilities, department representatives, appropriate NYULMC telecommunications and Network Engineering teams' project participants, etc.

9- Upon collection of project status meeting, develop and issue written meeting minutes and action items documenting all issues and topics discussed during the specific meeting, the action items that were assigned, the project resource to whom the action item was assigned, and the due date for action completion.

10- Prepare timely project status updates for presentation at bi-weekly Operations and bi-monthly (later monthly) Steering Committee meetings

11- Work with Finance Department resource to ensure appropriate monitoring and reporting of all project costs and budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

o BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline.

o Five years of IT project management experience, including expertise in end-user and technical requirements analysis.

o Proven and successful project management experience in the implementation of IP telephony systems similar in size, scope, and significance to that of the MYULMC project.

o Knowledge of current Telecommunications applications, platforms, and networks.

o Proven ability to create a work plan, schedule a project, and identify dependencies/relationships among work tasks using standard project management tools 9i.e., MS Project)

o Strong consultative and interpersonal skills with ability to identify issues, migrate risks, and gain resolution.

o Analytical ability, decisiveness, judgment, and the ability to work effectively with senior management, end users, staff and vendors.

o Strong time management ability to lead within a fast-paced environment.

o May be required to work weekends and stay late as necessary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Experience with Cisco, Avaya, and Siemens IP Telephony systems.

o Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, SIP trunking and wireless LAN

o IT or project management experience within the healthcare industry.
