Description:
SUMMARY - Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems needs of staff and operating departments and recommends solutions to problems. Develops, tests, and modifies applications software to improve efficiency of business operations. Performs complex modification, testing, and debugging tasks on vendor-supplied utilities and packages to best suit operating environment. Maintains necessary documentation. Operates under moderate supervision. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Provides technical guidance to others as appropriate. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Experience:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
' Bachelor's degree in business or computer science or equivalent experience.
' Minimum 4-5 years experience in IBM Enterprise COBOL for Z/OS, CICS and DB2
' Minimum 4-5 years experience with DB2 utilities and development tools (SPUFI, QMF, etc.)
' Minimum 4-5 years experience with JCL and mainframe utilities
' Experience with Librarian preferred
Skills/knowledge/
' Strong experience with design, analysis, programming, and support of business applications required
' Excellent problem solving skills required
' Excellent communication, leadership, organization, research, and team-work skills required.
' Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products
' Good working knowledge in using reporting and development tools
' Good working knowledge and experience with mainframe development tools desired
' Good communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in the development process
' Good project leadership

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
' Codes, reviews, and prepares test data, tests and debugs and manages implementation of system building. Revises and updates programs as required.
' Works closely with business units and acts as primary point of contact on behalf of the technology organization
' Produces program, system and user documentation for systems created with the department.
' Enhances technology expertise, becoming knowledgeable about evolving systems analysis, programming and database technology
' Participate in system testing, training, implementation and support of business applications
' Responsible for all aspects of application support including analysis, documenting, and coding software application programs
' Follows standard software development processes and procedures, and uses standard development and support tools
' Support and maintain applications and third-party applications and tools
' Monitor and maintain performance of packaged and custom applications
' Provide 24/7 on-call technical support on rotating basis
' Performs other duties as assigned
' Perform design, development & implementation tasks.
' Perform & consult on the technical application design. Considered a technical resource of a project team.
' Assist management in performing project estimates & planning functions.
' Function as trouble-shooter to investigate & correct system & program defects.
