Sorry to intervene. Having both houses filled with the representatives of the
same party, in fact, having a totalitarian regime in the country, is exactly
what has brought us to our knees.

I think this is what everyone has to look at and not how to extend the
unemployment benefits. We need to put those representatives in place who would
bring us jobs, who would close our borders and send the illegals back to where
they came from, who would ensure the security in this country not by stripping
us naked or scanning us to cancer at the airports, etc., etc.. When did we turn
into beggers? When did it happen that the Americans started begging  the corrupt
government with a "leader" who has never maid a payroll to throw them a bone?

What message are you trying to convey? And why don't you believe in your own
abilities and talents that you want an extension of the lousy benefits? I am not
in a better situation than you are, but I feel disgusting by accepting these
checks even though this is my first unemployment after more than 20 years of
hardship.... I wish I had a job, not an extension....

Ontell,

Thank you for your observation. I think Barbara may be thinking that one party
is more compassionate then the other. I wonder which one she believes would help
the needy the most?

As a former person who was active in CIT and still keeps on the distribution
list if she can help someone, I have no problem with anyone saying go out to
vote.

I do have a problem with people recommending to vote for any party.

This is not the first time nor the second that an email has gone out
recommending one party or the other.

If this continues, I will have my name removed from the distributioin list.

This is a networking organization to help each other not to promote politics.

Hello -

Two million unemployed workers will be cut off from expanded federal jobless
benefits in December alone -- unless Congress acts to continue the program
beyond its Nov. 30 expiration.

Congress should make this the first order of business before the start of the
holiday season.  That's why I've signed a Petition to Congress at
Unemployedworkers.org

Here's their website:
http://unemployedworkers.org/sites/unemployedworkers/index.php

And here's the Petition to Congress:

Please sign the Petition.

Thanks!

@Natalie Levy: Unemployment benefits are not welfare, it is an insurance
program and we have all paid the premiums through payroll deduction. Did
you ever read your paystubs? It's usually SUI for State Unemployment
Insurance. We do not have a totalitarian regime in this country. We have
a democratically elected representative government. It's not working
very well at this time because the deregulation of the media has allowed
a very conservative, formerly Australian billionaire to buy thousands of
newspapers and radio stations and hundreds of TV stations to fill your
head with the right wing propaganda that you have just repeated on these
lists.

When we cut taxes on the wealthy, they "take profits" and we go into a
recession. I've been watching this happen since 1981. Thus, tax breaks
for the wealthy do not create jobs. In fact, the opposite is true, if
you raise their personal tax rates, they will leave their money invested
and grow their businesses.

If you think people who need unemployment benefits (for which they paid
premiums) to survive until there are jobs to be had don't really want to
work, you are totally ignorant. We all want to work, but until that
becomes possible, many people need a little help surviving until that
becomes a possibility for them.

To everyone else on these lists, I apologize if you think I got off the
topic of of your group, but "America is in hard times, not end times"
[--Jon Stewart] and I feel the need to counter ignorance and intolerance
with facts, sanity, and civility.

Sorry, but I'm unemployed / forcibly retired by the crappy economy -- for which I blame the Gooferment, its politicians, and its bureaucrats.

But "unemployment insurance" is ... sham! It's purpose is to allow the Gooferment, politicians and bureaucrats to pretend that they give a rat's behind for ordinary people. It gives them a nice shiny program to run ---- staffed by well-paid well-pensioned well-connected bureaucrats -- who spend a lot of time and money "administrating".

"Unemployment" is not an insurable risk. It's not like tornado, flood, fire, or car accident. There's not a distinct pool of people who can share the adverse consequence.

So, it's a welfare program.

We already have welfare programs. Why do we need one more? So, we can pretend it's not?

The Gooferment (i.e., Federal, State, and Local) only gets wealth by taking it from others. Everyone is broke. So, why increase welfare when we don't have it in the first place.

Sorry, but I think that we have to be fair to posterity and stop spending. I like the idea of a 10% across the board cut in all Gooferment budgets. Every single last one of them items in the budget. No exceptions!

Stop collecting "unemployment insurance premiums"! Stop paying any "unemployment insurance claims". Tough bitter medicine. But, like a drunk, we have to hit rock bottom, to start the recovery.

Mad? Blame the politicians and bureaucrats. And the "liberal" big Gooferment Socialists who started this ponzi scheme.

I disagree with your analysis: Yes Unemployment benefits are needed for
those who are out of work but it is now a form of welfare. I would prefer a
private employment plan that I could control my insurance coverage like my
car and house. I have paid the premiums through payroll deduction however I
am not able to collect my insurance money, as the moon and the stars do not
line up with the government control !

State Unemployment Insurance is another government buracy with control and
power managed by a unprofessional Depart of Labor that is miss-managed.
It is another overhead cost on all citizens. We are close to a
totalitarian regime in this country. We had a democratically elected representative
government. It's not working very well as most of the media have a liberal
editorial point of view and have backed a very liberal commie Marxist
government in power and fill your head with the left wing propaganda that you
have just repeated by the lib's....

When we cut taxes on all taxpayers we "take profits" and we go into our
rights. Capitalism can and does increase production and not government jobs
that I pay for......Bergen county has the 3 rd highest taxes in the
USA.....Their are over 10.000 counties !

We want to get out of 13 trillion dollars of debt and unemployment by not
taxing us more !....If not we are heading to a recession. I have been
watching this happen thus, tax breaks for the wealthy. middle class and all
small business owners are required to create jobs.

Save our country that I have fought for....liberty freedom and the per suit
of happiness .....

Mr. McKenna,

Your liberterian fantasy is very heartwarming. Somewhere Ayn Rand (and Rand Paul) are smiling.

Since the private unemployment insurance plan that you discuss does not exist in reality at this time, the unemployed who have run out of benefits and have been unable to find work can just die.

They should die, since they are all worthless parasites.

To minimize waste, after they die they should be butchered and fed to the worthier citizens who still have jobs.

As an added benefit, this will increase employment for butchers.

That's my solution, anyway.

Enjoy your job -- as long as you still have one.

Love,

Tony Gerace, worthless parasite
