Mr. McKenna,

Your liberterian fantasy is very heartwarming.  Somewhere Ayn Rand (and Rand Paul) are smiling.

Since the private unemployment insurance plan that you discuss does not exist in reality at this time, the unemployed who have run out of benefits and have been unable to find work can just die.

They should die, since they are all worthless parasites.

To minimize waste, after they die they should be butchered and fed to the worthier citizens who still have jobs.

As an added benefit, this will increase employment for butchers.

   That's my solution, anyway.

Enjoy your job -- as long as you still have one.

I disagree with your analysis: Yes Unemployment benefits are needed for those who are out of work but it is now a form of welfare. I would prefer a private employment plan that I could control my insurance coverage like my car and house. I have paid the premiums through payroll deduction however I am not able to collect my insurance money, as the moon and the stars do not line up with the government control !

State Unemployment Insurance is another government buracy with control and power managed by a unprofessional Depart of Labor that is miss-managed.
It is another overhead cost on all citizens. We are close to a totalitarian regime in this country. We had a democratically elected representative government. It's not working very well as most of the media have a liberal editorial point of view and have backed a very liberal commie Marxist government  in power and fill your head with the left wing propaganda that you have just repeated by the lib's....

When we cut taxes on all taxpayers we "take profits" and we go into our rights. Capitalism can and does increase production and not government jobs that I pay for......Bergen county has the 3 rd highest taxes in the USA.....Their are over 10.000 counties !

We want to get out of 13 trillion dollars of debt and unemployment by not taxing us more !....If not we are heading to a recession. I have been watching this happen thus, tax breaks for the wealthy. middle class and all small business owners are required to create jobs.

Agree! And we scored some sort of victory last night.
Hope the country turns fiscally conservative and conservative in every aspect.
However, the battle has just started and I hope the Americans (myself included)
do not fail!
In my life I had enough of communist gibberish! My own family is a victim of the
so-called "wealth re-distribution". My grandfather's family was targeted by the
commies and the family wealth was "re-distributed" plus my poor grandfather had
to take a 20+ year "walk" in the Siberian gulags. I did not come to this country
to sign filthy petition for beggars....
Hope to see the impostor back in the country of his birth pretty soon (of
course, together with that transvestite-looking "better" half of his)....
They throw unemployment "benefits" to us and are going to spend 200 mln USD a
day touring India!.... Lovely!

Sorry Anthony,

You are not even funny! No one implies unemployed have to die. The question is:
who is to pay for all these welfare programmes? If you have children, can you
imagine how much tax they will have to pay, if they lucky not to starve to death
in a country that has to pay debts to everyone in the world and mainly to
China.
I am unemployed myself but since day one of my unemployment I have been
searching and applying to open positions, taking all sorts of courses to improve
my knowledge and advance myself.

Why not to get the point that the current government in power is WORTHLESS?
Luckily, we started changing the political situation in the country. If you do
not care for the country, perhaps for those like you there is no such thing,
then sign the petition, who is holding your hands?

When I got up this morning, I saw an ad on Facebook. Mitt Romney
congratulates Jim Demint on his reelection.
Welcome to 2012.
The Presidential run for 2012 has officially begun.
We in the Tea Party movement have got to jump into action to make sure the
Republican nominee for President in 2012 is a conservative. For starters,
that means no Mitt Romney.
The big three right now in the GOP race are Romney, Newt Gingrich and
Sarah Palin. Romney has more flip-flops than John Kerry. If elected, Romney
has no conservative principles that he will base his decisions on. Romney's
instincts will be to "manage" government, not to reduce. That means the
massive expansion of socialism that Obama launched will remain in place
and the tax bill will ultimately have to be paid by our children and grand
children.
Gingrich is not much better. I have never forgiven him for sitting on a
couch with Nancy Pelosi, hyping the global warming scam. Ignoring that for a
moment, Gingrich really brings nothing to the table. Gingrich would
govern as a conservative, but that is not what we need right now. In the last
one hundred years, the trend has been massive expansion when we have liberal
presidents and only a modest expansion of government with so-called
conservative Presidents. Only under Ronald Reagan, did we see a halt. We have
never seen a reversal in the size of government.
And then there is Sarah Palin. If the conservative movement has a rock
star, right now, it is Sarah Palin. She will draw a crowd like no one else.
But right now, she has not offered a vision for America that is
compelling enough for me to sign on.
The next President must have a compelling vision to roll back socialism
and the size of government. We will need a President who has a plan. We do
not need a President who simply wants to govern or manage. We will have
one chance for this in 2013. If we do not repeal Obamacare, Obama finance
and these other programs, we will never be able to.
What kind of plan should our next President have?
First, the plan should be to eliminate the income tax. This can be done
initially by statute and ultimately by repealing the 16th Amendment, which
allows an income tax. An income tax only fuels the easy, endless expansion
of government. We have to cut the fuel off to the motor of government
growth.
Second, we need to start going through the budget line by line, to
eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in the spending of our tax dollars.
Third, we are going to have to reform the Federal Judiciary, so that it is
no longer an unelected dictatorship. The judiciary was always meant to
be the weakest arm of the government. Today it is the strongest, with
unelected judges imposing their personal opinions on society without the check
and balance of being forced to face the electorate.
Fourth, we need a candidate who is going to seriously deal with
immigration. America is not Burger King. You cannot simply waltz into this country
and have it your own way. We need a candidate committed to closing the
border and send illegal aliens back to their home countries. We need to
change the anchor baby law. Just because you have a child here, that child no
longer automatically becomes an American citizen. You need to be born to
parents who are in this country legally.
Fifth, we need a President committed to rebuilding the American economy by
rebuilding the manufacturing base in America. Free trade has been nothing
short of a disaster for America. Free Trade has decimated huge
sections of the American economy. It has been great for other countries, but we
need a President who makes decisions based on what is great for our country,
not another country.
Finally, we are going to have to do something about career politicians.
Term limits is simply a concept whose time has come. The idea that
someone would spend thirty years or more in Congress is simply obscene.
As we go into 2012, we need to find a candidate for President who holds
these beliefs. We need a candidate who will fundamentally change the way
government operates today. We need a candidate who will shrink government and
roll back socialism.
If we do not find this person and put them in the White House in 2012, in
the end, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis of socialism will have won the day.

I agree with everything but term limits. Imagine Alexander Hamilton as
your representative. Would you want him gone? Never!!! Term limits says that
we do not trust the voters to do the right thing. The Constitution gave WE
The People the responsibility and term limits takes it away. Term limits
lets us get away with being lazy. We can mindlessly go our way and not pay
attention to government since it will all get "straightened out"
automatically. Right! When WE The People excercise our Constitutional responsibility,
term limits will not be needed. Since when does term limits guarantee a good
selection of candidates? The desire for term limits comes about due to the
neglect of us to pay attention to our government for the last 100 years and
as a result, we have a town full of sludge. How will term limits solve
that? Term limits is the easy way out, not the correct way out. Last night, We
The People gave a great number of representatives their own term limit,
all according to the Constitution and we can do more in 2012. We can aim now
for the primaries in 2012 and provide term limits for another third. By
2016, we will have flipped the entire Congress, all without term limits, plus
we will have the folks WE want in.

Ron Paul exhibits those attributes but was totally disrespected by the MSM
including Fox News in 2008. Why was that? I voted for him then and I would
vote for him in 2012. RON PAUL / CHRIS CHRISTIE 2012.

That or whoever Ron Paul endorses.

The funny thing about this 2012 run is that all the major conservative
news sources have completely hopped on board the Tea Party express. Everyone
from Fox including that freak Sean Hannity who completely disrespected Ron
Paul during the last election. The other Cheerleaders consider themselves
Tea Party members as well like Rush, Savage, and of course Beck. All these
people would have to show their true colors if they turned on him while he
runs with the Tea arty endorsement, or else they would have no choice but to
support him. Of course they can wiggle a little. But it will be blatant.

Also Ron Paul brings support from many other minority parties Plus some
Liberals when it comes to shows like Coast to Coast that support him and also
the 9 million + people who listen to Alex Jones... etc etc etc. Another
Bonus is he knows all the Slams and talking points the opposition will hit
him with since he has already been through the ringer last run. Preparation
is golden.

I'd say Ron Paul could do it if the economy is still tanked by 2012, and
especially if it is worse. I'd Vote for him. I would actually get 10X more
involved if he ran than I would for any other candidate I can think of.

like a conservative, because he/she REALLY IS a conservative!!!

Governor Christie is the only person who comes to mind with the energy and
fire who could implement the above agenda. Rand paul looks pretty
determined. Jim DeMint is organized and relentless. I understand Paul Ryan is
brilliant though I have seen him in action on only a few occasions.

Someone will emerge.

Awesome! You've hit the nail on the head there! The most exciting
candidate for me would be Chris Christie. Paul Ryan is a fiscal genius and should
be considered. DeMint is relentlessly conservative no matter the cost, so I
like that. I've been hearing rumors that some members of the GOP are trying
to get rid of DeMint because of that. I'd say let's give Rand Paul more
time to see how he's going to serve.

Free trade has been an unqualified success for Americans. Opposing free
trade is wrong. Americans should be free to purchase goods from anyone they
choose to. Where does the federal government get the power to stop us from
doing so?

Free trade should also be fair trade. I have seen reports that some
countries take advantage of us but I have not understood the details. I would
hope the Department of State and Commerce see we get a fair shake but I have
no confidence in that.

I agree. To give an example of how it is hurting us, I am a writer and
wanted to bid on several copywriting projects in the last year. When doing so,
I was in competition with others across the globe. I simply cannot compete
with someone in India willing to work for what amounts to 50 cents an
hour. It's just not worth my time.

When a corporation can hire workers across the globe for pennies on the
dollar as opposed to paying union wages, it helps their bottom line and
ultimately us the consumers because the savings can be passed on to us. However,
it is also hurting us as these jobs are being taken away from American
citizens.

Something needs to be done about the unions. I read an article recently
regarding school bus drivers in Nashville. They are members of the Steel
Workers Union (don't ask me how a school bus driver and a steel worker are
related). Anyway, they are working about 4 hours a day and getting paid for 8
hour days (union wages). This is being paid for with tax dollars and is the
kind of thing that needs to be stopped.

Thank you Sherry for hitting the nail on the head. The biggest reason for
jobs being lost overseas is the artificial inflation of wages caused by out
of control unions. Actually, you can throw the artificially high minimum
wage into that mix as well.

By no means am I saying that unions are the only cause, but they are
certainly the most significant. There may have been a need for the Unions when
they first came into being, but frankly, they have forgotten their purpose
and outlived their usefulness.

The damage done by Unions goes far beyond just the artificial inflation of
wages. I live in a town that is, for all intents and purposes, run by the
Union Pacific Railroad. While I have never worked for them, I count many
railroaders among my friends and associates. You would not believe the things
they get away with.. All because of Union protections. It is a running
joke among the railroaders that they go to work to catch up on their sleep. I
don't get paid upwards of $20 an hour (that is what they start aroud, I
have no idea what the long time employees make) to take a nap. Thats $20 plus
an hour in an area where the average wage of everyone else is significantly
lower and the cost of living is less than what you find on the coasts or
in most metropilitan areas.

The waste and inefficiency caused by the Unions is crippling many American
companies and causing jobs to be lost overseas. I could go to the UPRR and
get a job anytime I wanted, but I refuse to be a part of it.

The rest of Judson's post is spot on. Although I am afraid we are a long
way from a proposal to eliminate the income tax being taken seriously by a
majority

Welcome to 2012

When I got up this morning, I saw an ad on Facebook. Mitt Romney congratulates Jim Demint on his reelection.

Welcome to 2012.

The Presidential run for 2012 has officially begun.

We in the Tea Party movement have got to jump into action to make sure the Republican nominee for President in 2012 is a conservative. For starters, that means no Mitt Romney.

The big three right now in the GOP race are Romney, Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin. Romney has more flip-flops than John Kerry. If elected, Romney has no conservative principles that he will base his decisions on. Romney's instincts will be to "manage" government, not to reduce. That means the massive expansion of socialism that Obama launched will remain in place and the tax bill will ultimately have to be paid by our children and grand children.

Gingrich is not much better. I have never forgiven him for sitting on a couch with Nancy Pelosi, hyping the global warming scam. Ignoring that for a moment, Gingrich really brings nothing to the table. Gingrich would govern as a conservative, but that is not what we need right now. In the last one hundred years, the trend has been massive expansion when we have liberal presidents and only a modest expansion of government with so-called conservative Presidents. Only under Ronald Reagan, did we see a halt. We have never seen a reversal in the size of government.

And then there is Sarah Palin. If the conservative movement has a rock star, right now, it is Sarah Palin. She will draw a crowd like no one else. But right now, she has not offered a vision for America that is compelling enough for me to sign on.

The next President must have a compelling vision to roll back socialism and the size of government. We will need a President who has a plan. We do not need a President who simply wants to govern or manage. We will have one chance for this in 2013. If we do not repeal Obamacare, Obama finance and these other programs, we will never be able to.

What kind of plan should our next President have?

First, the plan should be to eliminate the income tax. This can be done initially by statute and ultimately by repealing the 16th Amendment, which allows an income tax. An income tax only fuels the easy, endless expansion of government. We have to cut the fuel off to the motor of government growth.

Second, we need to start going through the budget line by line, to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in the spending of our tax dollars.

Third, we are going to have to reform the Federal Judiciary, so that it is no longer an unelected dictatorship. The judiciary was always meant to be the weakest arm of the government. Today it is the strongest, with unelected judges imposing their personal opinions on society without the check and balance of being forced to face the electorate.

Fourth, we need a candidate who is going to seriously deal with immigration. America is not Burger King. You cannot simply waltz into this country and have it your own way. We need a candidate committed to closing the border and send illegal aliens back to their home countries. We need to change the anchor baby law. Just because you have a child here, that child no longer automatically becomes an American citizen. You need to be born to parents who are in this country legally.

Fifth, we need a President committed to rebuilding the American economy by rebuilding the manufacturing base in America. Free trade has been nothing short of a disaster for America. Free Trade has decimated huge sections of the American economy. It has been great for other countries, but we need a President who makes decisions based on what is great for our country, not another country.

Finally, we are going to have to do something about career politicians. Term limits is simply a concept whose time has come. The idea that someone would spend thirty years or more in Congress is simply obscene.

As we go into 2012, we need to find a candidate for President who holds these beliefs. We need a candidate who will fundamentally change the way government operates today. We need a candidate who will shrink government and roll back socialism.

If we do not find this person and put them in the White House in 2012, in the end, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis of socialism will have won the day.

I agree with everything but term limits. Imagine Alexander Hamilton as your representative. Would you want him gone? Never!!! Term limits says that we do not trust the voters to do the right thing. The Constitution gave WE The People the responsibility and term limits takes it away. Term limits lets us get away with being lazy. We can mindlessly go our way and not pay attention to government since it will all get "straightened out" automatically. Right! When WE The People excercise our Constitutional responsibility, term limits will not be needed. Since when does term limits guarantee a good selection of candidates? The desire for term limits comes about due to the neglect of us to pay attention to our government for the last 100 years and as a result, we have a town full of sludge. How will term limits solve that? Term limits is the easy way out, not the correct way out. Last night, We The People gave a great number of representatives their own term limit, all according to the Constitution and we can do more in 2012. We can aim now for the primaries in 2012 and provide term limits for another third. By 2016, we will have flipped the entire Congress, all without term limits, plus we will have the folks WE want in.

That or whoever Ron Paul endorses.

The funny thing about this 2012 run is that all the major conservative news sources have completely hopped on board the Tea Party express. Everyone from Fox including that freak Sean Hannity who completely disrespected Ron Paul during the last election. The other Cheerleaders consider themselves Tea Party members as well like Rush, Savage, and of course Beck. All these people would have to show their true colors if they turned on him while he runs with the Tea arty endorsement, or else they would have no choice but to support him. Of course they can wiggle a little. But it will be blatant.

Also Ron Paul brings support from many other minority parties Plus some Liberals when it comes to shows like Coast to Coast that support him and also the 9 million + people who listen to Alex Jones... etc etc etc. Another Bonus is he knows all the Slams and talking points the opposition will hit him with since he has already been through the ringer last run. Preparation is golden.

I'd say Ron Paul could do it if the economy is still tanked by 2012, and especially if it is worse. I'd Vote for him. I would actually get 10X more involved if he ran than I would for any other candidate I can think of.

Thats $20 plus an hour in an area where the average wage of everyone else is significantly lower and the cost of living is less than what you find on the coasts or in most metropilitan areas.

The waste and inefficiency caused by the Unions is crippling many American companies and causing jobs to be lost overseas. I could go to the UPRR and get a job anytime I wanted, but I refuse to be a part of it.

The rest of Judson's post is spot on. Although I am afraid we are a long way from a proposal to eliminate the income tax being taken seriously by a majority

i thought this was an IT roundtable discussion group. if we want to talk about job opportunities then ok. I don't understand the political tone this has taken.

This should be apolitical, focusing on jobs, not politics.

Ron Paul exhibits those attributes but was totally disrespected by the MSM including Fox News in 2008. Why was that? I voted for him then and I would vote for him in 2012. RON PAUL / CHRIS CHRISTIE 2012.

That or whoever Ron Paul endorses.

Governor Christie is the only person who comes to mind with the energy and fire who could implement the above agenda. Rand paul looks pretty determined. Jim DeMint is organized and relentless. I understand Paul Ryan is brilliant though I have seen him in action on only a few occasions.

Someone will emerge.

Awesome! You've hit the nail on the head there! The most exciting candidate for me would be Chris Christie. Paul Ryan is a fiscal genius and should be considered. DeMint is relentlessly conservative no matter the cost, so I like that. I've been hearing rumors that some members of the GOP are trying to get rid of DeMint because of that. I'd say let's give Rand Paul more time to see how he's going to serve.

Free trade has been an unqualified success for Americans. Opposing free trade is wrong. Americans should be free to purchase goods from anyone they choose to. Where does the federal government get the power to stop us from doing so?

Free trade should also be fair trade. I have seen reports that some countries take advantage of us but I have not understood the details. I would hope the Department of State and Commerce see we get a fair shake but I have no confidence in that.

I agree. To give an example of how it is hurting us, I am a writer and wanted to bid on several copywriting projects in the last year. When doing so, I was in competition with others across the globe. I simply cannot compete with someone in India willing to work for what amounts to 50 cents an hour. It's just not worth my time.

When a corporation can hire workers across the globe for pennies on the dollar as opposed to paying union wages, it helps their bottom line and ultimately us the consumers because the savings can be passed on to us. However, it is also hurting us as these jobs are being taken away from American citizens.

Something needs to be done about the unions. I read an article recently regarding school bus drivers in Nashville. They are members of the Steel Workers Union (don't ask me how a school bus driver and a steel worker are related). Anyway, they are working about 4 hours a day and getting paid for 8 hour days (union wages). This is being paid for with tax dollars and is the kind of thing that needs to be stopped.

Thank you Sherry for hitting the nail on the head. The biggest reason for jobs being lost overseas is the artificial inflation of wages caused by out of control unions. Actually, you can throw the artificially high minimum wage into that mix as well.

By no means am I saying that unions are the only cause, but they are certainly the most significant. There may have been a need for the Unions when they first came into being, but frankly, they have forgotten their purpose and outlived their usefulness.

The damage done by Unions goes far beyond just the artificial inflation of wages. I live in a town that is, for all intents and purposes, run by the Union Pacific Railroad. While I have never worked for them, I count many railroaders among my friends and associates. You would not believe the things they get away with.. All because of Union protections. It is a running joke among the railroaders that they go to work to catch up on their sleep. I don't get paid upwards of $20 an hour (that is what they start aroud, I have no idea what the long time employees make) to take a nap. . I'm currently working with over 23 open positions and more positions are
called in daily. I am humanly not able to go through all of them with you at
this time and an email describing the technology needed and the years of
experience would just be too much in one email. You can find out more about
me on LINKEDIN.com.

In order to facilitate the process I've set up a site where each position is
described in detail including the requirements, salary range, bonus
eligibility, location, company business etc. You are invited to join the
group <http://www.terrytech.tk/> www.terrytech.tk and look at each
position in at your leisure. I believe this is a much more civilized way of
doing business rather than calling you at your office where your privacy

Please cease and desist posting political diatribes to this group. It's bad enough that most posts to this board consist of reposted spambot crooter non job adverts and links to worthless job hunting puff pieces. The lack of meaningful content here had been driving members away for some time but this childish back and forth might be the final nail in the coffin.
