Director, Princeton Project Office
Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Director of the Princeton Project Office (PPO) is responsible for overseeing the University's IT governance and project planning processes; for ensuring University-wide IT projects are delivered on time, within budget and with expected results. The Director supervises a team of highly motivated IT professionals, is a member of the OIT Cabinet and serves on a variety of University committees representing OIT. - Oversees the Princeton Project Office, which is responsible for ensuring the success of University-wide IT projects including deployment readiness; risk management; capability transfer and support; audit and review. In addition, the Director is the steward of the University's IT Governance Model, the Princeton Project Management Methodology, the OIT Project Portfolio. - Facilitates the University's annual IT project planning process, including reviewing project proposals, ensuring effective resourcing and funding strategies, and preparing a project slate for senior management endorsement. - Works with key University stakeholders to identify and manage potential risks and other issues associated with critical University-wide projects. - Prepares agendas for and facilitates the monthly Enterprise Systems Planning Group (ESPG) meetings, ensuring that the University's senior management is aware of the status and impact of IT projects. - Works closely with academic departments and administrative offices, as needed, to rescue projects in distress and/or lead complex IT initiatives that are key to the continued success of OIT and the University. - Establishes, enhances and maintains effective relationships and communication with all University constituents. - Works closely with the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, in collaboration with the other OIT Directors, on strategic OIT initiatives. - Participates in the OIT Cabinet and serves on a variety of University-wide committees, including the Desktop Systems Council (DeSC). Essential Qualifications: - A minimum of 15 years of IT project management experience within a University setting. - A dynamic leader with excellent interpersonal skills, who values, and excels at, collaboration and customer service. - A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management principles, methodologies and of how to successfully implement IT projects at an institution of higher education. - Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and active listening skills. - Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization and influence others to progress toward a common vision or goal. - In-depth knowledge of, and familiarity with, IT products and services. - A thorough understanding of IT in higher education. - A commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse University community.
