Description

Role

* Manage, maintain and enhance the SAN disk and Fibre Channel switched
network infrastructure
* Assist other team members where appropriate in managing other
storage infrastructure (NAS and CAS systems)
* Manage SAN capacity and performance using appropriate reporting &
monitoring tools
* Action requests for new storage, working with other global teams
* Provide input and support for infrastructure and application
development projects that require storage infrastructure
* Ongoing evaluation and analysis of the storage infrastructure to
provide optimum performance.
* Maintain market awareness of new products that could potentially
offer improved value to the business
* Liaise with appropriate application development representatives to
optimise value to the business
* Liase with third party vendor operations management
* Provision of core on-site daily cover within a shift rota
* Provision of overnight and weekend on-call support within an on-call
rota.
* Maintain good working relationships

Technical Skills

* A minimum of 5 years supporting SAN infrastructure:
* Network Appliance (NetApp) range of hardware (FAS200,3000,900,6000
series)
* NetApp software (ONTAP 7.x, Clustered failover, FlexVol, SnapMirror,
SnapShot, DFM, Tivoli integration)
* EMC DMX-3, DMX-4, VMAX, Clariion CX3, EMC Control Centre,
StorageScope, Navisphere, Tivoli integration
* Fibre Channel SAN Infrastructure: Fibre channel Directors (Cisco
MDS9000 & MDS9124e) in a Core/Edge topology using Cisco Fabric Manager and
command line.
* EMC SAN Management software (SYMCLI, SRDF, TimeFinder, FAST)
* Previous roles supporting Platform/Operating Systems administration
(Windows or Unix)
* Knowledgebase and technical Documentation (Visio, Wiki, etc..)
* Symantec Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System, Veritas
