Speakers
David G. Hoch, IT Consultant, DGH Technologies
Ben Serebin, IT/Exchange Consultant, REEF Solutions

Question of the Month

What Microsoft tool is used to perform an overall topology readiness scan of
your environment (e.g. AD, existing Exchange configuration, etc) to
highlight problems for rolling out Exchange 2010?

Answer to previous Question of the Month:

Q) For Exchange 2007, what needs to be backed up for Transport and Edge
Servers?

A) This is a trick question. Backup the server as you would normally do to
protect it from OS failure. But nothing special is required from an Exchange
point of view (e.g. databases, transaction logs, etc).

Goldman Sachs is having a Women's recruiting/Networking event on Thursday
March 18th between 6 -9pm, at their main office, 200 West Street, New York,
NY to hire permanent employees.

That being said they are mainly looking for strong developers. They are also
open to looking as some infrastructure people, BA's, project managers but I
would say the bulk of the interest would be in the development background.

They are open to non Wall Street people, open to years of experience 1 year
plus and up.

They need to be available on that evening.

Again, this is for woman only, passive people who are not actively looking
are welcome as well.

HCM and Women in Technology (WIT) will be hosting an onsite 'Woman in
Technology' recruiting event. We will be inviting 75 women in for this
recruiting/networking event. We will be sourcing candidates through employee
referral and Vendors. This event will be held on Thursday, March 18 at 200
West Street, NY 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm.

March 18, 2010 Chapter Meeting Presents

Business Architecture's Role Within Enterprise Architecture

Enterprise architecture consists of four key architectural views: business, application, data and infrastructure. This presentation will introduce all four but will focus on the business architecture. In fact, many of the techniques to be discussed can be used for business modeling alone. However, the benefits increase exponentially when the business architecture is incorporated into the overall enterprise view. The objectives for the presentation explained through a UML model are:

* How to formally model the business architecture in a precise and unambiguous manner so that it can be related to the other architectural views.
* How to map the business processes to the underlying technology for both current and future state plans.
* How to include business requirements and use cases in the business model, making them first class architectural elements.
* How to trace use cases to the technology elements that realize the use cases.

Terry Merriman is the President and Chief Architecture of OAD Consulting, Inc. He has over thirty years in software development and founded OAD in 2000 to provide consulting and training services in the Enterprise Architecture space.

He has consulted with Fortune 500 companies in the US and Europe, providing training, on-the-job mentoring and "front-line" consulting services on multi-million dollar projects. For the past ten years, he has also worked with clients to create architectural principles and guidelines and supporting toolsets to make designing systems that conform to the principles and guidelines the easiest path to take.

opportunity, as it is global and thriving regardless of the industry.
Industries including healthcare, media, accounting firms, high-tech, and
