10 Steps for Online Career/Job Networking
Let's start with the big question.
Why?
What is the point of doing online networking for your career? How is it any
better than simply keeping in touch with people you know via email or at
meetings? Isn't stuff like LinkedIn or Facebook a waste of time, or at least
not worth the time you invest in it?
Online networking tools serve two purposes, really.

Job Hunting In An Economic Downturn
Job-seeking at any time is a pretty stressful experience. However, in the
past, it was usually rewarded with success for the job-seeker with a new and
better job with a better salary with a better company. But today, with our
economy mired in a downturn with what seems like little hope for short-term
recovery, the stress level for job-seekers is at an all-time high.

RIP Resume Objective Statement
01 July 2011
By Joanna Boydak and Claire Forszt, LiveCareer
It's time that you lay your objective statement to rest. Misinformed
jobseekers may be trying to resurrect this outdated resume section, which
may be why they are still out of a job. These days, the professional summary
has taken the spotlight. Why the shift in resume trend? The objective
statement fails to do what a summary can accomplish-heighten the potential
employers interest in a candidate's skills and achievements.
Objective statements are limiting because they are either written requesting
a specific position or are written as generic and weak, restricting your
chances of targeting any job at all. A hiring manager will take only 15
seconds to scan your resume. If the first section doesn't hook the reader,
your chances of moving on to the next step are limited.
Is it time to send the Objectives section to a New Orleans funeral? See
