Sr. Oracle DBA

Responsibilities:

Sr. Oracle DBA to provide database development services and support for business critical web applications. This role demands for high level of proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL, performance tuning, mature change management and proven ability to quickly learn, extract knowledge from other team members and reverse engineer database schemas supporting complex applications.

Responsibilities
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and quickly take ownership of existing data-driven applications. Thoroughly document technical design and implementation details during knowledge capturing process.
• Maintain and keep up-to date database technical documentation
• Provide close database development and expert support to engineering and QA teams in improving existing and implementing new applications
• Research and promote relevant advanced database technologies
• Take active role in preventive database performance assessment and tuning
• Help to design, deploy and maintain best industry practices in database change management
• Provide comprehensive support to database operations and reporting/BI teams in achieving desired database reliability, performance, data protection and quality levels

Qualifications:

Skills/Attributes
• Good verbal and writing communication skills
• 10+ years of Oracle database administration (9i – 11g)
• 3+ years of SQL Server database administration (2005 and 2008)
• Firsthand experience in successful data-driven Web based applications with high level (up-to 200) database requests/second
• High level skills in Oracle (10g,11g) and SQL Server (2005,2008) administration and development:
o PL/SQL and T-SQL
o Replication – Streams, transactional, merge, mirroring, snapshots
o Database instance and SQL statement performance evaluation and tuning
o Native database tools proficiency: export/import, sqlloader, bcp, job schedulers, OEM, SSMS, SSIS, audit, tracing/profiling
o Physical and logical database design and modeling
• High comfort level working in Linux/Unix and Windows server environments
• Advanced Unix shell scripting, powershell and perl scripting
• Previous involvement with building geo-distributed active/active applications is highly desirable

Database Administrator Manager

Responsibilities:
Database Administrator Manager to lead a team of development DBAs in mixed, Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS environment. The position requires proficiency in a broad range of Oracle and SQL Server database technologies, including advanced areas such as replication, distributes databases and continuous database performance improvement.

Responsibilities
• Provide direction for the design, development, integration and further support of new and existing data-driven applications
• Create and maintain formal database asset inventory with regular updates
• Establish, enforce and maintain solid change management processes in database development according to the best practices
• Assess team technical skill set and organize adequate training. Plan, organize and lead knowledge transfer process for inter-team role transitioning
• Facilitate effective team interaction
• Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor team members through formal and informal channels
• Review current inventory of technical design documents and organize the process of keeping it comprehensive and up-to date
• Provide close support to database operations team in achieving required levels of applications performance and reliability.
• Actively engage and maintain close and regular interaction with peers from other teams – engineering, QA, operations, etc.
• Research, test and substantiate implementation of new and advanced database technologies on ongoing basis
