Those between jobs, thinking of changing jobs, or re-entering the workforce have ready access to powerful job search tools at no cost through the public library. Library resources, many available online to library cardholders, can save time and energy and turn up important leads and background information. Job seekers are especially invited to attend Taking Advantage of NJworks@YourLibrary: Free Resources and Tools for NJ Job Seekers, at Bernards Township Library at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
Ruth Lufkin, Supervising Reference Librarian at Bernards Township Library, will describe and demonstrate how tools and resources available through the Library can be used to prospect for information on particular industries, pinpoint potential employers, and mine for nuggets of company data. Bernards Township Library has partnered with the New Jersey State Library and the statewide initiative NJworks@YourLibrary [www.NJworks.org], which offers tools for citizens to get back on their feet in today's competitive job market. Funding for the program came from the federal Broadband Technology Opportunity Grant (BTOP) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Tools offered through the initiative that make career exploration and transition easier and assist in managing a job search will be showcased. Job & Career Accelerator and Career Advantage provide the public with access to computer skills tutorials, easy-to-use resume and cover letter writing tools, career assessment tools and online job searches. Participants will learn how to uncover market research reports from Frost & Sullivan which provide practical industry insights and analysis with real-world statistics and research results. Other useful resources such as ReferenceUSA, Business Source Premier, Regional Business News and more will be highlighted.

Finding a new job at the moment is a bit of a struggle with all the
government cost cutting and the effects on economy by the recent recession.
Many big companies have either closed or have made cuts to their work force
in order to economize and lower there expenditure. Are things going to
improve? The latest statement by the head of the bank of England said "we in
in the middle of a seven year recovery[,]" not good news for those who are
finding it a struggle at the moment. So what can you do?
