JOB DESCRIPTION 
Lead project to increase efficiency and scalability of new business processing for life insurance applications by replacing new business processes and systems (case management, underwriting and cashiering) with new vendor product new business accelerator software as the core foundation, implementing a field-facing portal for insurance application entry and case management, and introducing DST's Automated Workflow Distributor (AWD) to allocate work and reduce paper handling. 
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 
·         Leader skilled and responsible for partnering with the project owner/sponsor and all stakeholders to create and implement appropriate and cost efficient solutions based on business objectives.
·         Acts as project manager, with leadership responsibilities for a matrixed team on medium to large sized projects.  Manages results as outlined in the project's triple constraints of budget, schedule and scope (quality/performance.)
·         Acts as program and/or relationship manager, with leadership responsibilities for supervising or tracking multiple projects simultaneously.  Manages dependencies within program's projects and to other projects as necessary.
·         Builds strong relationships with business and technology leaders.  Understands business area opportunities and challenges, process or system impacts to all related business or systems areas when implementing recommended solution to obtain business objectives.
·         Initiates and ensures project management, ProMPT methodologies. Change management procedures and supporting tools are used in executing all projects as appropriate.
·         Provides ongoing status updates on project progress, risks, change management and issue resolution.  Leads issue identification, tracking, escalation and resolution documentation.   Monitors risk events before becoming issues and potential roadblocks.
·         Manages deliverable estimation process, resource allocation and utilization efficiently and negotiates resource conflicts with other project managers or resources managers as appropriate.  Escalates to VP, PMO as necessary.
·         Communicates technical issues, impact, and risk mitigation strategies in business terminology that can be communicated to and understood by non-technical partners such as the steering committee. 
·         Creates and maintains project plans, and reviews them with the appropriate IM&T and business partners and steering committees. This includes tracking plans against agreed upon resource levels, timelines and budgets.
·         Responsible for facilitating vendor identification, selection and contracting with business owner, PML Vendor Management Office, Legal and Financial Operations.  Maintains ongoing management of vendor throughout the life of the project. 
·         Offers consultative mentoring, assistance or guidance to project community and junior level project managers in best practices for successful project delivery. 
·         Participates in and contribute to the improvement of the PML project methodology standards. 
 
 
COMPETENCIES
 
·         Highly proficient in use of project management discipline and best practices.
·         Competent in the use of all project management and analytical software tools.
·         Expertise in Portfolio Management techniques and analytical software tools.
·         Expertise in methodology development, training and process control.
·         Excellent communication skills combined with experience leading a matrix project team.
·         Excellent teamwork, analytical, judgment and interpersonal skills.
 
 
MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS 
10+ years of project management experience guiding medium to large sized (6-12 month, $2-$10+ million) distributed application projects to implementation.
Four-year degree in Business Administration, Technology Management, related field or equivalent proven project management experience and success.
Project methodology, system development lifecycle or infrastructure implementation work breakdown structures experience required.
Proven experience in project portfolio management and tool support, methodology development and training rollout.
Experience managing medium to large sized project teams (25+ people) operating within a matrix organization.
Formal project management training or certification desired.
