TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER – OPEN SOURCE

 

Are you from the Open Source Community (LAMP, etc.)?

Have you managed teams of 4 to 6 developers in an Open Source environment?

Are you still 'hands-on', ready and willing to do also do some coding?

If so, please read on …

 

Our client is an Open Source technology company in downtown Manhattan, but with a decidedly 'Silicon Valley' culture.  They are a household name in email marketing and customer intelligence, and are looking again to expand.  This role is for a Hands-on Project Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day technical operations.

 

Primary job responsibilities are but not limited to the following:

     * Manage 4 teams of 4-6 people responsible for client integrations and

       application support

     * Coordinate closely with Systems and Deliverability teams to ensure pro-

       active resolution of issues

     * Provide regular updates to the Business on the health of the platform

     * Manage uptime to committed SLAs

     * Provide sales support as necessary

     * Support global expansion into Europe and emerging markets

     * Handle escalated issues

     * Act in technical lead role during triage situations

     * Act as escalation point for Off-Hours technical pager

 

Educational Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; master's degree is preferred.

Technical Requirements

     * Proficiency in a Linux/Unix environment

     * Strong Knowledge of networking and security concepts

     * Deep knowledge of at least one high level language (C/C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, Python)

     * Experience troubleshooting technical issues with clients

     * Knowledge of database concepts and SQL

     * Proficiency with HTML and general web technologies

     * Knowledge of XML

     * Knowledge of PKI a plus

     * Knowledge of DNS a plus

     * Excited to learn new technologies and skills

     * Strong oral and written communication skills

     * Strong analytical skills

     * Knowledge of OO concepts

 

Managerial/Leadership Requirements

     * Experience managing mid-size teams (managing managers)

     * Experience presenting to Senior Leaders

     * Experience negotiating with vendors

     * Experience implementing new cross-team processes and adapting existing 

       ones
