Detail Job Description: Summary
The BI Analyst's role is to examine and evaluate information requirements for various business units across the organization, investigate information issues and reporting problems, and assist in support of various production processes supported by the Business Intelligence Team.
* This individual will use proven knowledge of specialized reporting tools, SQL, and database techniques to perform data analysis and develop reporting structures as required.
* Assignments may involve unstructured investigation and analysis to respond to a business information need.
* The BI Analyst is also responsible for proactively generating and compiling information in reports, spreadsheets, or files based on his or her findings, complete with recommended improvements to - or new requirements for - business processes, operational procedures, and their corresponding reporting structures
* Ability to document and present results appropriately for senior/executive management.
Position responsibilities:
Key areas of responsibility will include:
* Conduct data pulls and perform customized data analysis
* Work with the data warehouse and/or non-BI data sources to perform investigations.
* Develop rapid understanding of business issues and determine the data needed to support investigations and/or reporting to support those issues.
* OEM, Retail, Finance, Marketing, and Revenue Assurance Reporting and Investigations as assigned
* Develop and automate reporting packages for multiple audiences; critical success factors include the abilities to:
o Understand all relevant data sources
o Extreme attention to details and data accuracy
o Provide complete reporting solutions using data analysis and SQL data mining techniques
o Work independently and research innovative solutions to challenging technical problems
Requirements
* Strong communication skills and business savvy are essential.
* Technical data analysis and reporting skills are crucial, including advanced knowledge/skills in the use of SQL in SQL Server and Teradata environments, advanced skills in MS Excel and Access, and intermediate knowledge of Cognos 8.4 report development.
* 5-7 years work related experience required
* Must have the ability to interpret logical and physical database diagrams.
