Trading Floor Support Engineer - (US-NY-New York)

Compensation: $130K - $150K / Year

The successful candidate will be part of the Tradeplant Operations/Engineering team based in New York. This person will have at least 5 years experience in a similar role and will therefore play a pivotal role within the team. As such the successful applicant will need to possess a solid technical background, excellent inter-personal skills, a fine attention to detail, project management skills and a proven track record of success. Their day-to-day responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following; 

Deployment of new applications – Working with the development community to take their new applications and turn it into a fully supported trading system. 

Standardization – Make sure the application follow standardize all aspects of support, such as application architecture and monitoring, software versions, UNIX patch versions, etc. 

Capacity management – Understand the application capacity and hardware limitation, co-ordinate for hardware provision if necessary 

Production architecture - Design the applications architecture with consideration on redundancy, scalability, load-balancing and disaster recovery. 

Pre-Production testing – Work with the development and support teams to execute beta testing, C&R testing and make sure applications to be supportable 

Documentation – Provide on-boarding document including application architecture layout, capacity, support procedure, failover procedure. 

Environment management
· Co-ordinate with SA and infrastructure team to make sure no negative impact on production. 
· Performing regular reviews of the environments to ensure they still fit for purpose. 
· Responsible for documenting the environments and ensuring the are kept up-to-date. 

Capacity Planning 
· Perform on-going monitoring on application components capacity and scale out if needed. 

· Perform quarterly capacity reviews to identify hardware/application hot-spots and instigate change where necessary. 

Configuration Management 
· We define and maintain the standard build for all Solaris, Linux and Windows servers and ensure that all new servers are built in line with them. 
· We define how the applications should be configured. We define the requirements for how the applications should be configured and developers must comply if they wish us to on-board and support their application. 

Skills – required 
· Trading Floor Support Experience 
· Experienced in a client facing role (in technology) 
· Experienced at running and working within virtual team 
· Understanding of Solaris, Linux and Windows operating systems 
· Excellent communication skills, methodical and a fine attention to detail 
· Previous experience of building application environments 
· Previous experience of managing changes from Development, System Test, UAT into Production 
Skills – nice to have 
· Unix shell / Perl / python scripting skills 
· Good knowledge of database technologies (Microsoft SQL, mySQL, Sybase & Oracle) 
· Previous experience of working with source control systems 
· Experienced with web servers such as apache 
· Experienced with TIBCO EMS and RV
