I'm looking to fill an important role for an innovative consumer internet venture that I've started with two friends. The business is based on a revolutionary search technology that organizes and customizes event information. We are looking for a true superstar software engineer/programmer who has an entrepreneurial spirit. The candidate's role would be to design a highly scalable search crawling technology that integrates advanced information extraction algorithms and semantic web solutions to: (1) automatically extract event information (including the date, time, and nature of the event) that is dispersed throughout the internet, and (2) organize and match such information to pre-defined criteria about the event. The candidate should have extensive experience developing web crawling (search engine) technologies. Such experience may be drawn from a variety of sources, whether through prior work experience, academic studies or independent projects. We are an early stage startup, and the opportunity we are offering is for someone to develop the required system in exchange for a stake in the company and a senior management position as the company grows -- extremely hard work, to be sure, but with huge upside potential. The person for whom we are looking should be eager to get his hands dirty exploring, analyzing, and solving complex technological problems, and should be comfortable overseeing, as well as performing, all of the related tasks.
